Guts Olo is a character created by Makin Jan Ma.

Guts Olo Full Biography

NAME: Guts Olo is a reformed hidden name from Gut Solo.

Guts as a name represents intensity of thoughts which forms the solid soul from within. - ” It was the ancient Mesopotamians. They pulled out animal intestines - sometimes human intestines, I expect - and used the shape to predict the future. They admired the complex shape of the intestines. So the prototype for labyrinth is, in a word, Guts. Which means that the principle for the labyrinth is inside you. And that correlates to the labyrinth outside” *. 

Surname Olo equals to olo , a naive erected penis which defines a family of raw and pure soul of love.

BIOGRAPHY: Guts’s ancestors is from somewhere else with origin of the Solo Family. They settled in very long time ago and changed their surname to Olo , naming all their children with names ending with ’ s ‘. It is a noble thing that they carry but at the same time they are hiding from it for generations. Guts is a dreamer. He is a sentimental guy who like to think about little things in life. There is always confusions and contradictions in his mind. Love is an important thing in his life and he chases for the true feeling of time.

AGE: Guts was born on the February 24. He stays in times of his 20’s. 

HEIGHT: 179cm

WEIGHT: 65kg

BODY TYPE: Fit and slim but fragile looking.

FACE TYPE: Oval shaped face with sharp chin.

COMPLEXION: light and glowy complexion

EYES: Innocent like a child - full of curiosity but It carries deep and lustrous darkness like a war in the galaxy.

HAIR: Directional like the way he approaches his world.

CLOTHING STYLE: What to wear is not very important for him. Clothes grow along as a part of his emotions. With reference to his background he dresses like a skywalker crashed into a kindergarden. Mostly out of the place but he gets away.

Makin Jan Ma creates characters; their internal and external.

 

“The Moonwalking to Your Heart E.P” continues the journey that Makin began with his fashion collections and photography, by giving a voice to Makin’s character “Guts” through the music of Raoul Colvile.

This story is a fantasy, a love story begun in earnest and ending in destruction, as two lovers set a course, alone and together, from the earth to the other side of the moon.

Guts-book

The first song “Guts’ Lullaby” finds the protagonist and his lover resolving to leave for the stars. The piece focuses on the concepts of both commitment and reassurance through the metaphor of cremation and rebirth.

 

The second song “The Lovers’ Moonwalk” shows Guts and his lover setting out amongst the lunar landscape; bare and huge. They are protected only by each other, looking back at the world, hands held.

 

The third song “At the Rainbows’ End” is a song of mourning. Raw; the lovers’ journey is finishing. Lost in the wilderness of the moon in shadow, as he had known it could be, Guts’ resolve and commitment is totally broken in one sense, but in another remains entirely intact.  

 

Like Guts, the songs are real and were recorded live in a continuous studio session.

 

All songs were written and performed by musician, poet and model Raoul Colvile and feature Oliver Lyon on cello.

All photos and illustrations are done by Makin.

The E.P. is presented as story book designed by Jackson Lam, Printed by Hato Press.

Thanks for Ingvar and Susanne pointed me to the good location! And it was lovely to visit their studio in Hackney Wick.
Ingvar and Susanne run their amazing label from this very organized hub. 
Please check out their label Ostwald Helgason. I met Ingvar and Susanne at trade shows and we had a lot of laughters with cracking jokes together. It is always good to be around with people with such great humor!
